What is Driving Your Life?
What is actually driving our lives? That is the central question this message forces us to sit with, and it is far more penetrating than simply asking where we are headed. We can be moving quickly and still be moving in entirely the wrong direction.
This sermon draws from Romans 8:12-17, where Paul makes clear that those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God, and that we have not been given a spirit of bondage and fear but one of adoption and belonging. The contrast is stark: a life driven by flesh, emotion, past wounds, or the need for approval versus a life genuinely guided by the Spirit of God. We are challenged to recognize that our feelings, though real, are not reliable final authorities.
Anger, fear, pride, and cultural pressure all whisper competing directions, but the Spirit consistently calls us toward forgiveness, truth, surrender, and love, even toward those who have wronged us deeply. The message also draws on Hebrews 12:1, reminding us that both sin and weights, things that are not always sinful but still slow us down, must be laid aside if we are going to run the race set before us with endurance.
Whatever we refuse to release will eventually restrict us from reaching what God has prepared for us.
